HEAVIEST FIGHTING OF PRESENT OFFENSIVE.

CONTINUOUS STRUGGLE ON TEN MILE FRONT.

LONDON, April 27. Beater's Correspondent at British Headquarters, telegraphing today;" states:

Testerday's fighting was the heaviest that has ever occurred in Flanders since the present offensive.

i

The enemy developed two great threats, the first being a continuation of his effort against. Kemmael and the ground to the west. The second was a new attack between La Clytte, which is a kilometre north-east of Scherpenberg Hill, and the spot where his line crosses the Ypres Comines Canal. Later, his second attrak extended southward and linked up with the battle proceeding and Drancourt, thus forming a continous struggle on a front of ten miles. The enemy employed "wifi-at- any pries" tactics and continued push. ing forward fresh formatione from his reserves wherever the front threatened to get-thin through casualties.

Two Army Corps Commanders, Generals Seger and von Eberhardt, directed the Prussian and Bavarian Divisions which were poured in to sup plement the picked battalions of Alpini and Jegers which won the crest of Ment Kommel..."

The Correspondent adds that farther beary enemy attacks launched in the same ares this morning were repulsed. The enemy is also again beavily assault ing Givenchy and Festubert.
