Special courts martial were instituted to "ty these cases, and arrests, trials, and con- demnations have followed ever since. Up to date these special courts-martial have imposed over 4000 years of im prisonment. The prisons of Colmar, Mulhouse, Strasburg. Matz, and other cities are so filled with the victims that the German military jocularly refer to each prison as an "Entel de France.”
No pretext has ever been overlooked for evacuating the general population into Germany. Villages near the Front
