The principal change in the Local, Code is that the new signals will show the direction from which the gale is expectat, whereas the kl signals showed the position of the typhoon. The latter will he indicated, as bereto- fore, by the Non-Local Signals. The new Lool Cole is given below:-

1-Red cone point upward, will mean a typhoon exists, which may possibly cause a gale at Hengkong withizbours.

2-Black cone point upward-Gale expected from the North (N.W. to XE);

3-Black cone point downward-Gale expecter from the South (S.E to S.W.);

4-Black drum-Gale expected from

the Eut (N.E to SE):

Black al-Gale expected from the West (N.W", to S.W.) 6--Two black cons, top one point down, bottom one point-ap-Gale expected to increase. 7-Black cross-Wind of typhicon

force expected (any direction). Signal No. 7 will be accompanied by three explosive bombe, fired at intervals of 10 acconds at the Water Police Station and repeated at the Harbour Ofice,
