The following report written by the captain at the Union-Castle liner Alawick Castle, giving details of the sinking of that ship without warning by a torpedo from Cornian-submarine, is placeci at the disposal of the Press

At the time of the disaster there were on board besides 100 members of iny own crew and 14 passengers, the captain and 4 of the crew of the 'caller trans- port Trevose whom I had rescued from their boats at 3.30. p.in. on the previous day. I will now give a short account of the At 8 events we have experienerd.

o'clock on the morning of the disaster I was called in obedience to my written night orders, and I then gave the chief zigzaz officer & written detail of the courses to steer, commencing at once.
