determination to win and with con-

They have proved to themselves, to the euemy and to the world that this confidence was justified, nad in the fierce struggle they have been through they have learned many valuable lessons which will help them in the future." The German retirement in the Valley of the Ancre is a recogni tion by the enemy of his inability to resist the assaults of the Brital Army which were impending "there, an also of his inability to overcome Four defence, and it must confirms xud strengthen, if that be possible, the faith which the Allies, feel in their ability to win in this terrific struggle.
