THE JUDAR'S VIEW,

Mr Justice Lush: What had she done which necessitated her being placed under arrest 1-She interfered with me in carrying out my military duties.

What military duties ?-Being available instantly in cars of alarm.

Mr Justica Laak: At present I think the defendant made a mistake, and a serious one in his view of bis authority on migh:

Mr Maddocks (to witnes) You have soldiers hero and let theth to stand by me now? (Laughter.)-If I considered you ware obstracting me in the performance of my military duties I should probably toll them to do so.

And keep me under arrest-fithought it was for the public fery. I shou d (Laughter.) I believe I have fullúthority auder the Defence of the Role Act

Mr Justice Lash Supposing you were staying at a friend's house, do you think you could put him under arrest if you though the electric light ought to be avidable and your host not-Theatines phern was in very different in this case.

Mr Jaation Lush held that Captain Casa do what he admitted had no authority baring doma, still less the stops the plaintiff all-ged. Captain Caso was not at the time carrying out the orders of a competent naval or military authority within the meaning of the Defence of the Reim Act. He was at the hose as a visitor and had. no authority other than that of a visitor.

The jury assessed the danger at £230, and Lie lordship entered judgment accordingly, with co-ts. The question of a stay of execution was defer ed.
