A Pretoria message says that the two Indian beurer companies being raised in South Africa. will be a mixed force of Hindus and Muhammedans in- der a European doctor.

LATEST NEWS FROM THE WEST FRONT.

LONDON, Sept. 24. "Reuter's Paris correspondent says that the French, bombardment appears to be more intense and important than ever, while the Franch lines are us firm as a rock against the rain of poison-shells.

The communique says that the French guns at Arras seriously dum aged the enethy organisations. The Germans opened with poison shells. in Champagne especially at favourite points liko Sousin, Perthes and Beausejour. The French mado a vigorous and effective reply. The French guns in the Argoune made breaches in the trenches at many points and dispersed the Germans when they wore attempting repair- work. The Germans also used poison shells in Lorraine but were com pletely repulsed.

A_COMMUNIQUE FROM FIELD MARSHAL FRENCH.

LONDON, Sept. 21.

Sir John French in a communique states that bostile artillery has been active during the last three days on our front, to which we replied effectively. There has been mining activity without important result. Our aircraft carried out a successful-raid on the enemy's communication at Valenciennes, in which a train was hit and the line out in several places.
