THE COAL-MINER'S STRIKE STILL
UNSETTLED.
Losos, July 18. At the conference in London Mr. Runciman and the Welsh Miners' Executive failed to effect a settlement. The conference was adjourned to to.day.
The Executive told Mr. Bandiman that a ballot of the coalfield would completely endorse the action of the Cardiff delegater. They also said the increase of adverse voting against the Government terma was entirely due to proclamations issued in the coalfields.
The special correspondents in South Wales nescribe, the miners as being most obdurate and unperturbed by the munitions tribunale di
They are firmly convinced that the coal owners are making bugo profits, therefore they cannot see why their demands, equivalent to less than six pence per too, camot be granted,

Nowhere is the strike expected to be of long duration; one reason being that the Union fands are depleted.

Bagus Advertisement About British Shella.
Loxous, July 16, 10.15 p.m.
The Press Bureau issues a statement with reference to an advertise- Iment published in an American trade journal describing a new kind of high explosive which, it is said, is now being exported from Ameriew for the use of the British Armies, and saying that the explosion of halells produces a combination of two acids with which fragmenta of the shells become coated, so that they inflict wounds which mean death, after terrible agony, within four hours if the are not altended to immediately,
:
The British Government has reason to believe that the advertise- tocat in question is not a genuine one, hut is published with the de- liberate intention of greating a false impression. The Government has given no order in America or elsewhere for any explosive such as that described, meither has it used, nor does it contemplate using, any in- ventian the affects of which are such as those described.
THE EFFECT OF THE BRITISH BLOCKADE.
