A special train conveying soldiers southwards has collided with a local train at Gretna Green near Carlisle.
Many soldiers were killed and 300 injured. Both trains are on fire.
LATER.
The latest report states that 20 were killed.
Another telegram states that so far 40 bodies have been recovered. The troop raia had 14 officers, and 165 men. Of the Royal Scota only 52 answered the roll call. Many of the absentees were engaged in rescue work..
