Mr Tancian, Fresident of the Board of Trale, said that though the emer gency ngulations did not pretent British manufacturers trading with Gemau timis i China, the Government did not consider this desirable. and was doing its utuget to have the business transferred to British firms. The Government could not agree to publish the names of these firms.

March 9. On the 7th instant the French troupe carried German trenches north west of Sumin, taking a prisoners. Between Perthes and Benu Sejour wo gained 100 to 500 metres. Several offers have been taken prisoners. German prisoners declare that our artillery on the heights of the Mouse severely damaged a 20 taillimetre gun which had just beer mounted, making it necessary for it to be sent to the rear for repairs.
We have progressed north of Bhilonvillers.

THE DARDANELLES BOMBARDMENT,
ALLIES.
STEADY PROGRESS OF THE ALLIES.
Loxpos, Mar. 9. The Admiralty announces that the operations of the Allied Flest, at the Dardanelles are progressing favoured by fine weather.
HMS. Queen Elizabeth and other British battleships on Saturday again attacked the forts in the Narrows by indirect fire across the Galli- poli Peninsula, while the Allied Squadron fired on Fort Daranus and the concealed batteries from inside the Straits.
Some of the British ships were hit, but only the slightest damidge was done. There were no casualties.
H.M.S.'s Lord Nelson and Agamemnon on Sunday engaged the fores in the Narrows by direct fire and silenced two forts after a heavy bombardment.
The Navah seaplanes, in locating the concealed batteries, did magni- ficent work, sometimes flying very low. They were hit repeatedly, but none were lost. Only three officers were injured

The Press Bureau bas issued a report by Rear-Admiral Sir Richard Peing on the operations at Smyrus.
The bombardment on Friday severely damaged Fort Yenikalo. The Squadron on Saturday swept away through the minefields till they drew the fire of several subsidiary batteries, all of which they silenced.
The British casualties were slight.
