What The New Taxation Will Produce.

The duty would produce £950,000 this year, and 13,200,000 next year. The duty on beer would produce £2,000,000 this year, and £17,000,000 hext year. The now taxation this your would realise £15,000,000 und the suspension of the Sinking Fund £2,750,000,

The Country's Income.

The Chancellor at the Exchequer declared that the income of the country was at present £2,500,000,000, whereas in the time of the Napo leonic War it was only €250,000,000. It we rose to the herois level of. our ancestors now, we would be raising almost £700,000,000 yearly.

Terms of Submission.

The war might be long, or it might be short, but were fighting an enemy who will submit on no terms that we could accept(cheers or no terms that we could prudently accept without a washing defeat. A wise Chancellor must extraite on the longer period.

A Time Of Sacrifice.

Mr. Toyd George dwelt on the advantages British manufacturers would enjoy in muntrai mutkets during the war, but mphasised that a serious position might arise at the end of that period. LONDON, Nov. 18.

The Admiralty publishes the report of H.M:S. Casgow concerning e Naval engagement of the Chilian const, from which it appears that e enemy were sighted, at a distance of 2 miles, H.M.S. Good Hope gaalled to H..S. Conopns that she was going to attack with H.M.S.'s onmouth, Casgow, and Dirunto. The Bank of England had putriotically undertaken to give most important facilities in connection with the new loun, and the Bank for three years would be prepared to make advances against a deposit of War Stock taker at issue price with out collateral security and at 1 per cent, below market mte of interest. He appealed for support for the Loan. It was a loan to help this country to fight this battle for her existence. Victory meant vahie, and defeat meant depreciation. It was an excellent investment, because the credit of Great Britain was still the best in the world.
