ARMED ROBBERS.
Attack a Chinese Broker.
A Chinese broker living at 231, Third Street, had a desperate encounter on Bunday morning with four armed robbers who attempted to loot his house. The
broker answered a knock at the door and found the four mea, all but one were very respectably dressed. Their appear. unco completely belied their intentions and the Broker was taken quito unawiros when the desperadoes made a rush at him and attempted to stranglo him. A strongly built nap, ho put up a stout resistance and was almost a match for the four, who lacked his size and phy. sique. The inn attempted to draw, the knives with which they were armed but seeing the purpose the broker shouted Joudly-for up and so alarmed his assail. ant that they beat a basty roterat. The broker gave chase, and was joined by two or the constables, who managed to cocura thres of the men. The captives word brought up at the police court this morning and remanded till Thursday in custody.
