FORGED BANK NOTES.
PHARGE AGAINST CHINESE WOMAN.
In the second court at the Criminal Sensions this morning, before the Paine Judge, Mr. Justice Kemp, a woman asmed Chan So was charged with being in posses sion of and,attering, forged Kwang-tung baakaotos; she was niso charged with returning to the Colony from banishment. → The Crown Solicitor, Mr. P. M. Halgaon, prosecuted, prisoner being undefended. The jury consisted of Messrs J. Bi, da Rocha, foreraan; F. X dos C. Feriera, F. J. K. van Wall LP. Corbath, A. Nicol, E. F. G. Orchard, and J. M. Britto.
The Crown Solicitur, addrewing the jury, midvit was illegal" "in this colony' for anybody to be in posion of a forged document purporting to be & banknote of a foreign country, and it was also illegal to utter such notes with intent. to sell them or dispose of them in any other way. The accused on September 14 was found in possession of certain Forged Kwangtung banknotes, and the eridence showed also that she sold a amber of them to another woman. The
original money paid for these notes weat through the hands of three or four women before it ranched the xecusen, and was marked money given these women by the Authorities: eventually it was found in ho poser:ion of the accused. The notes were of 85 denomination and were sold for fourteen casta, ench, which was prvof, he submitted that they were furged notes.
Prisorer as found not guilty and was accordingly discharged.
