From the returns of a certain number of spciotics, representing about one-fourth of the insured population of the United King- dcm, the insurance commission is able to get some idea of the benefits that will distributed. These societies, represent 1,300,000 insured persons, and during the. I first quarter that insurance payments woro made ander the Act only paid out approximately £100,00 on sickness and £76,000 on maternity benefit.
The working of the sanitarium benefit in Eagland forms a very interesting chapter. From July 15, 1919 to April 30, 1913. 7,464 persons had received treatment in residential institutions, and 2.107 in or
