For some years there has been ́s con- siderable development in the importation of furs into China from Europe, whilst hitherto this country has rather occupied the position of a large furnishor of fors for the world's market. The evolution of this trade in furs, says a St. Petersburg

paper, may be explained in the following way; the intellectual" and well-to-do olasses of China have been gradually adopting European clothing. But the Chiness for dressing does not answer re- quirements de represented in the Euro- pean system. a winter, clothing. On the other.
