A PUBLIC MEETING
The Nagasaki Barristers' Association has continued its investigations into the alleged wrongful detention of people by the Nagasaki pulice, says the Nagasaki Press" of March 28. It should be mention- ed here that the allegations are directed entirely against the officials of the Nagasaki Police Station, Hamano-machi, of which) Mr. Takes is the Superintendent.

reported on two specific cases. A jinri-. kisha man, referred to in a previous report, had been detained for three days at the Nagasaki station and then released without explanation. The committee interrogated the police and was informed that the police wore so busy during the first two days that they could not enquire into his guilt bat on the third day found that he had been: arranted in error.
The second case was that of a manager of a buauens house of questionable character who was detained for tan days at the Nagasaki Station. According to the man's own statement he was told by the- Superintendent on being released that ho had been been imprisoned warning! against engaging in business pursuits of`a' doubtful nature,
