The situation is all the moro interesting because next year the Independant Labour Party celebrates the attainment of its majority, and the occasion will be marked by an important conference and scrotal other distinguishing events. The most probable nominee is Mr Keir Hardie, who was one of the founders of the party at its stablishment in Bradford in 1893, and who was its first president. Should he be sked it is highly probable that he will accept nomination.

After his original term as chairman, Mr. fardio remained a member of tho eaunail until four years ago, when a split took pinco 158wing to the growing influence of the fiction led by Mr. Victor Grayson, and he, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, and Mr. Philip Snowden resigned. In 1911, when the Social Democratic Federation went into the melting pot and emerged as the Bri ish Socialist Party. Mr. Grayson left the IL.P. to galvanize the new body into life. Ho failed in that object, but his withdrawal has left the path clear for Mr Hardio again.
