A Natural

Remedy

Time was when disease was thought to be due to the direct influence of evil spirits, and exorcism and magic were invoked to cast it out.

Science has taught us wisdom. The evil spirits exist still. We call them "Disease Germs," and they also must be cast out. Once lodged in the stomach or intestines, fever with its hallucinations, or biliousness with its aches aud pains, is the result.

ENO'S

FRUIT SALT

is the approved remedy for driving out disease germs. Its action, is quick and thorough.

It

clears the intestines, rouses the torpid liver to new life, stimulates the mucous membrane to a healthy action, and cleanses and invigorates the whole digestive tract.

It may be safely taken at any time by young or old.

STUDIES.'

Results of Year's Work and Annual -Examination.-The results of the year's work and wean? examination uns very pleasing.

Class 1, 2 and 3 consist of senior, juni and preliminary Oxford candidates respretively. The work in these three classes has been very good. The girls are hand-workers and all are anxious to make the most and best of their school days. Considerable progress has been made in English composition, which is always a diffealt subject for Chinese girls, especially at the standard required for the junior and senior Oxford examins- Bons.

(e) Special Composition Prizes.-For several years now Mr. B. E. Belilios bas be good enough to offer prizes for Eng

(d) Toncher's Class.-The junior mis tresses mend twice a week a class (in connection with the technical institute) which is tought by a fully qualified teacher, who gives special instruction in scheel management and methods of washing. The result in the lust reply examination of the school show that the

owlsige aequired. at the classes has been applied in the teaching bera. At the last yearly examination our teachers

ained 71 per cent.. ali passing.

(e) Normal Class-A normal, elnes has Be started by Mr. Sung for training Resumove Classes 4 und 5.--Besults here vernacular mistresses. There are now were on the whole satisfactory. Arithabout freen stadents and it is expected metic and grammer, however, are weak that when their course of training is com subjecte and special attention will have pleted they will be vainable a teachers to be given to them. The girls have in the sebo, very good "knowledge of hygiene and the subject has oridently been well taught.

Class 6Results here

most gratifying. Two or three stupid girls levered the average of the glass, which otherwise would have been remarkably high. Results showed very conscientious benching.

Classes TA and 7B-In Class 74 re sults were very fair. This has been a difficult class to teach, as it has been ensposed of young Eurasian girls and very much older Chinese girls, the variety in uge being a great drawback to the teacher and to the progress of the class, This arrangement hus becar altered and the cles in future will consist of Chinese girls only. engraphy wrong the smaller girls was a very weak subject,

In Class 78 results were gratifying All the girls answered questi as quite readily on the text books, but they need more practice in general converso tiqu. Arithmetic was remarkably well

Joue.

Classes BA and B.-In 8A arithmetic is a very weak subject and needs more practice. Writing was very good for young children. Other subjects were only

fair.

1) Ministering Children's League. The Belilice Public Schoot branch of this league now ambers about 300.

At the bazaar hold ou the 19th of theber last, the money realised at the all of this school amounted to $328. On September 26th our members were entertained at ten ab Government House

by Lady May. A most enjorable after- on was spent. Lady May examined the work of the pupils and was kind enough to express her appreciation of it.

GENERAL COSERVATION,

The attendance in the upper "school is small, this I think is largely due to the fact that girls are usually rather old when they reach this stage in the school and inany get married or sock employment.

On the whole I feel that the year just eloxing has been a very successful one for the Belilics Public School. There has been an increase in the attendance and considerable pregress has been made in the study of English.
