Oxford University sent a strong team Scotland, including most of the
bluce" who played against Cambridge, and scored one win against two losess. In their first engagement they met Edin. burgh University: It was a stubbornly contested game, and the home studenta had a narrow win. A draw would have bear a fairer result, for if Edinburgh had the upper hand forward, the Ozonians were smarter and cleverer behind. Both 19 scores had a suspicion of luck about them. That of Oxford, made in the first half, was of a runaway character, and that of Edinburgh was get frem a wild pase finishing in a stretch over the line which was by no means convincing."

In Glasgow, where the Oxanians met the Academicals, the feature was the henry scoring in both sides. The vis bors were by far the better in combina- tion; they passed with a speed and pre. cision which was in strong contrast to he. baiting work of the homis rear divi- sion. The forwards were evenly match- ed, though it must be remembered that in the second half the Oxonisns played a man abort, Knott having to retire.
In their third match, Oxford suffered & heary defent from Edinburgh Acade micals; but the weather conditions could hardly be worse, snow falling beardy and the ground being in a deplorable condition. It was soon discovered that
the ball was best managed on the ground; there was scarcely any handling; and coly one try was scored as the direct result of a pass. The strong rushing of the Academical forwards was the feature of the game; their footwork was very fine, and no fower than five of their eight trice fell to forwards. It was a severe blow to Orford to have their line crossed so often, and it was well for them that accurate kicking was out of the question.
