·LORD CURZON ON WOMAN- SUFFRAGE.
A meeting of the Scottish National Anti-Suffrage League was held recently in St. Andrew's Hall. Glasgow. Lord Curzon was the chiot speaker. The ball, which accommodaten about 6,000 persons, was Alled. Lord (Henconner was in the chair.
The Chairman read the following lettor from the Prime Ministers,
In view of the division of opinion. which exists among my polleagues, and in the Liberal Party, the subject of woman suffrage, I have not thought, and do not think it right to take an active part in the controversy in the country. My own opinion is unchanged--that the anfranchisemont of women for the pur- pones of the Parliamentary volé would not be in the best interests either of women or of the State.'
Lord Curzou moved a resolution to the effect that the extension of the Parlia mastery franchise to woman would be hostile to their own wolfies and the wal- 296ture of the State, and that a change so |aramentous built not to be entertained. except upon a clear and deliberately ox- pressed demand by the electorate,
