Further details of the recent sy mancouvres at home have come to hand.

The culminating stage of the big Army

maneuvres has been followed with much

intercut this week, (Sept. 14-29) the King himself spending several days in the) field and going here, there, and overywhere on his charger and by motor car. East Anglia has been the scene of operations, in which 60,000 troops, augaged under the gereni direction of General Sir John French. The idea was that a Red force, under Lisut.-General Sir D. Haig, had landed on the Norfolk coast, and was Oy soaking to march ou London. It consisted of 22,500 men, 9,000 horses, 96 guus, 1,500 eylists, and 68 machine guns. Its path was blocked by the Blue defending army under Lieut.-General Sir J. Griorson, with 25,000 men, 8,000 horses, 96 guns, 1,500 cyclists, and 67 machine-guns: A very interesting series of moves and counter. moves took place, and on occasion spirited encounters

occurred, some of which were witnessed by His Majesty. Towards the end of 18th inst., however, the situation became more and mera percal, and finally the Director of Operations intervened, and brought the action to a ennclusion.
