The committee appointed to deal with the memorial to the late Sir Robert Hart held a meeting at Shanghai on the 6th inet,, when an important step was taken in regard to the matter. It had previously been decided that the memorial should take the form of a statue, and at the meet. ing in question it was resolved that this should be of bronze, erected on the design furnished by the English sculptor, Mr Henry Pegram A. R. &.

The exact site bus ant yet been decided epun, but it is hightly probable that it wil be somewhere in the immediate ricinity of the Curton House, Shanghai.
