MARRIAGE OF THE UNFFT. New Responsibilities for the London County Council. London has some 26,000 persons who will be included within the scope of the Mental Deficiency Bill, a Government measure which the County Council under- sland is going to be passed this year. In the circumstanows the council are anxious that their recommendations may be in corporated in the proposed legislation, of which the council generally express ap proval. A report on the Bill by the Education Committes has been drawn up, and will be considered by the council at its next meeting.

The "mereare contains the following clause, by which, for the Erst time, an effort is to be made to eliminate the unfit:
