The Daily Chronicle states that the Tsar has pardoned Miss Malceka, who was sentenced to four years' imprison- ment for a political offence.

Wansaw, May 10. The trial of Miss Malecka concluded to-day. The Court found her guilty and condemned ber to four years' penal Barvitude. Her immediate arrest was ordered.

The Public Prosecutor, addressing the. Court, after the conclusion of the aridener, declared that Miss Malecka's guilt had been proved and asked for her condemuntion in accordance with the new Russian criminal law of 1003, which provides that anyone belonging to s revolutionery organization aiming at the separation of parts of the country from the Russian Empire shall be subject to minimum penalty cf exile to Siberia for life and a maximum penalty of twenty years' penal servitude.

THE SUFFRAGISTS IN made a most able and eloquent speech for the defence, in which he admitted that his client was acquainted while in London with a prominent Polish Socialist named Filipovitch, that she knew that he was a political exile, and that she afterwards met him in Warsaw. If the Court considered this acquaintance an offence then Miss Malecka was guilty. But nobody had the right to consider. her guilty for sympathizing with -Socialistic ideas.
