Europeans in the treples do not, as rule, take into efficient consideration the altered conditions in which they have to live. They modify to a limited extent the mode of life they hare boon accustomed to in their own cold or temperate chmate, both as regaria, food and clothing, but the modification is usually too slight and jo moet cases is insufficient to keep them in that state of good besith which may be termed toess. How many Europeans keep on doing their work, but never have that vitality and joy of life which every man should have? They may never be ill enough to take to bed and call in a doctor, but they are unft, irritable and unable to do any thorough concentrated physical or mental work.
