OIL FOR EASTERN VESSELS, «

From Egypt comes news of great develop ments in the oilfields near Suez. If they go on at the same pace as now and the oil drives termer is developed as shipping mon are inclined to think, the freight ships for the East, instead of carrying coal enough to inst' out and homa, will tank up with Egyptian oil for the eastward trip and take in a fresh supply when they come back towards the west. At present the Red Sox area is producing about a quarter of million tons of crude oil a year but that, taunt will soon be increased and an oil refinery will be set up on the Egyptian coast. Meanwhile large quantities have been sent to be refined in Asiatic refineries: There are large oil areas to be devoloped in Turkey as well as these Egyptian felds, so we may confidently look for importent changes in the future for the equipment of vessels trading with Far Eastern ports.
