All the Rugby matches in Scotland were N Road, Bowloon, Immediats posses

declared off owing to froat and snow.

988 At Swanses, Wiles maintained the sequence of successes achieved crer Scotland in Wales since 1899, and after a first match, gained a victory by two goala, two dropped goals, and a try (21 points) to Ewo tries (8 poista) Scottish critics, althoughadmitting that Wales wou on merit, assert that three tries to two would more accurately reflect the run of the play. The sides, they my, were evenly matched, and the success of Wales was due rather to the luck of the game than to any decided superiority.

Bid judgment by the Soote, the result of over anxiety and that pecular effect which Walee always exercises over ite op posents, was too often in evidenso, especial ly in the final phase of otherwise admirably executed movements, either by the backs or by the backs and forwards. In this respect Fearson was the chief offender. He more than once passed inwards when he should have given the ball to Wil on this

by failing to pass to Will the moment he got the ball. In aach case Will was on? marked and had only a few yards to go.. But Pearson did much good work, though he was overshadowed by Angus, who for the first time did his powers fall justice and was much the best three-quarter in the fiold. He was equally good in defence and in attack, and never made a mistake. Will deserves almost as high praise. Some of the Scottish. passing advances were up to the highoet Welah standard, particularlyODOWN No. 4, NEW PRATA, the two movements which yielded tries. Hickson, though fielding and kicking wall, skowed occasionally his characteristic fault of failing to finti touch,

The Scottish forwards exceeded-ex- pectations so far as their all-round display was concerned. They were superior in the' fight to the heavier Welsh forwürde, and packed finely, while they got the larger share of the ball Their footwork, was excellent, though marred by s tendency to kick too hard and too little across when It came to them almost clear. Their markings out of touch was not always accurate, but they often got the ball, and had it down and away very quickly. Soott was easily the best forward. Indeed, he was the best forward in the fold. He was always near the half, and was an useful in defence as in attack. Purvis, Bain, Howie, and MacCallum were also prominent, while every man wan's tries. Both packs lasted well through a hard match; and the play was fast, open, and clean.

ASSOCIATION.

In the old times, Asomation would sever have been attempted under the con ditions of frost which existed last Saturday. But the grounds are now kept in such a atate of perfection that play is largely a question of rubber stads on the footgear. Only one game had to be postposed, at Aberdeen, where the snow was five inches doep.
