The following tablo, compiled from the Fourteenth Abstract of Labour Statiation of the United Kingdom, issued by the Board of Trado, shows that only in potatons was there a decrease in the price of the articles the outumerated. Had the comparison been made between 1890 and August, 1911, the contrast would be still, more striking be cause of the marked increases in pricës in the last two or three weeks is consequenes of the labour disturbances and strikes in various parts of the United Kingdom. This, however, was a temporary and abnormal increase, and could not be fairly used for the purposes of comparison. There is also an increase of 5 cents per pound for best butter, 1 scab per pound for sugar, 8 coats for a dozen eggs and 2 to 4 conte per pound for beef and mutton.”
