The towing tragedy is reported from S: Yai. The occupants of a small boat were a man, his wife and five children Helmets (Cork and Rubber). The boat "tool cargoes from place to place, sid on the evening of the twenty- * first of the Okinase month it was attacked by pirates. Ten men appeared. They searched the bost, but did not find enough to satisfy their desires. They then took hold of the five children, and, in spite of their cries, carried them off for sala. The eldest girl wag, more than ten years of age. The man and his wife opposed the robbers, heroupon they drew knives and stabbed the woman in several places, so that she fell into the water and was drowned. They then wrapped the busband in in cid quilt and flung him into the river also. Next the pirates took the boat with the five children and rowed across to the opposite side of the river and disappeared.
