And yet there hardly a Southron who has attained to the real flavour of the game. This may seem a hard saying, but proof in abundance will be offered. There is an immense and surprising difference in spirit between cottish and English golf. The uly parallel to it is the difference between Scotch and English cricket-a subject on which I will touch later.
