AN INTERNATIONAL
NEWSPAPER.
American Project,
The announcement is made that a num. ber of prominent persone in America and Europe are behind a movement for the publication of an international daily new paper in Paris which, half be derited axclusively to international affairs, giving both sides to ali questions of world-wide interest. The international directmate is composed of representatives of all the leading nations, and its members will serve. in an editorial advisory capacity, .esting half-yearly.
Mr
There will not be any editor-in-chi‹ f,- but Mr Thendors Stanton, sa American jonmalist Ii ing in Paris, will be the managing editor, and M. Ferdinand Leipaik, one of the rdit rs of the "Puster Lloyd," will be the foreign editor Stanton, who bas just arrived in New York after touring the European capitals to judge whether the project is workable, makes the announcement that it has been decided to start publication in January. He adds, **The paper will be called Le Journal International and will be published overy afternoon in Frei cb. The members of the international advisory board bars not all boon selected, bus the list thus far includes a prominent member of the House of Lords, a Spanish senator, à-d an Italian senator. The paper will be entirely unblessed. We have enough international advertising assured us, to make the news paper independent,' In older to forest ll the criticism that because the paper is published in Paris it will be pro-French, we may decide not to allow France representa tion on the inteructional editorial advisory boari.
At the present time newspapers are. national in their scope and deal principally with the affairs of their own country. Our journal wil be entirely international. Even literature and at will not be considered from a local standpoint, but wúluly with regard to their international relations, As to the kind of news wo pahlib, should the New York Metropolitan Opera Elisabe destroyed by fra 1 docht" if we should mention it, but we may report a Congres sional debata on Unnadian reciprocity, giving impartially both the American and Canadian sides of the question. Mexi roubles and the present altaatiom in t'ortugal and in Spain will be reported fully, presenting not only the Government side, but also the Opposition. We shall
hare fortige correspondent in the principal dities of the world,
We have boorated oficials and men of aalry in the principal dountrics, and we are convind 'd that such a newspaper has a place in the theme of things. We expect d'have reader'in all parts of the world."!
