An unpleasant incident was associated with the Kuris Lumpur Race Meeting. In the second race Piper, who rode Melodist, was not placed and it was the opinion di the Stewards that he pulled the horse. He was ordered before them, along with an other jockey who rode in the same race, and suspended until 1912. Piper will be unable to ride at any registered meeting this year. He had entered into engago ments to ride it Perang, Taiping, Singa- : pore, and at the next Kuala Lumpur meeting. Therefore, the punishment is severe. Piper denied that he pulled Melodist. He says that the gelding, which stande quite 16 hands., was much too powerful for him and that he was in the set of preventing the horse leaving the track when he was thought to be pulling
