Mr E. D. C.. Wolf presided and there were present Hon Mr AWY. Brawin, CHE Mr A Shelton Hooper, Mr Ng How T Colonel Bedford. PM£0., Dr F2 Clark, Medical Offer of Homlth; and Mr W. Bowon-Rowlands, searotary."

It will be remembered that the matter was adjourned at the last meeting of the Board and the committee now cubmitted a further report relative to the burial of the remains of the Into Mr Chon Tong Howa in the Colorini Cemetery.

The President reported as follown —. In company with Mr Hooper I interviewed the Bishop of Victoria: whe promised every assistance in the matter of preventing death-bod baptisms. I think that a mors thorough investigation of each case on our , part, ovet if it meessarily involvon delaying the fumural, may enable us to ascertain the merits of each case more fully. Should the above means prove ipsufficient, it will bo necessary to define the length of time which we can accept as proof of conversion, and this period, my, three to five years, should if required ba fixed by Ordinancy, It is proposed to consecrate the Pokfulam Chinese Christina Cemetery. If this is done it will be as suitable for Eurials of Christian Chinese as the Colonial Cemetery.

Hon Mr. E. A Hawelt mituted The Saritary Board will, of necessity, only have a few hours in which to consider such cases, and I do not see that anything in be gained by waiting. A ruling should be made on the subject now. In the case of a grown person, a death-bed baptism should not entitle that person to burial in the Colonial Cemetery unless we can be satis- fed that for some time prior to death the person had seriously contemplated accept- ing the Christian religion. In the cas of young children, a death-bed baptism should only be accepted if the parents, are Christians.

The President proposed and Mr Ng Hon Taz seconded the adoption of the report.

Hon Mr Brewin mid that he was dead against any interference with religous matters, and he would like to know what authority they had in questioning the validity of this man's haptists. It would
