The suggestion to establish a bank with Chinese and American capital originated with the visit of the Americas business men to Shanghai and other ports in China last year, but until now no active, steps have been taken in the intter." The renson for this is to be found in the financial crisia of last summer and autumn, which for the time being put an end to all negotiations, It is under stood that it was during a conference between the Chinese and American business men that the question of encour aging trade between the two countries was under onsideration and the propow! was put forward that the best way to do this would be by the formation of a bank financed by the business interests of sch country.
