A CHINESE VERSION.

The two correspondents of the Wah Ta Yat Po in Canton state that a few days: ago an anonymous letter reached the Viceroy of Canton, presumably from a Meritor in the cup of the Revolutionists,

to the effect that Dr Sun Yat Sen had returned to Canton and would blow up the yamen with bombs on the first day of the fourth moon. On account of this news and the fact that a large quantity of ammunition had bean seized recently,. His Excellency the Viceroy gars onder that whether such information might be true of not avery precaution must be taken by the police. All the troops under" Admiral Li were consequently ordered to be prepared for eventualities. A strong guard was placed at the four gates of the city and a abrict watch was kept.

The troops at Lim Chow, acting upon telegraphic instruction, hastened to Canton in small partics and were stationed at the most important parts of the city, where they remained from the evening of the day on which the better was received.

.

At the time of the rising the city gates had been closed and those persons living in the vicinity state that the sounds of the discharges from the rifies and revolvers were like the firing of a hagy chain of crackers. They saw fans and dense volumes of smoke Issuing from a place twhich was taken to be the Viceroy's
