A census of the population of Hongkong is too laken on Bay 20th, and in order that our senders may test thair adtill in estimating the growth of the population wince the last cunsur-the. China Mail in promoting a competition under three heads, aking its subscribers to predict the sura bors of(1), The total civil population:|

All competitors have to do is to cut out the coupons, áll în their estimate and forward them to our office, with the words "Census Competition" ix the top left-hand corner of the envelope. they desire. A prize will be given for the most correct estimate under ench head. In the case of a tie the estimate first open-
