Fall in the Rate of Those Who Remarry.

The Registrar-Genel's aunual report of birth, deaths and marriages for 1900 contains one interesting détails aa to the earriage of widows and widowers. The fall in the marriage mate has been grunter among widowers and widows than among the unmarried of either sex, but the apparent tendency among the widowed not to remarry is probably overstated. The auber of widows is always much greater than that of widower because, in the first place, men may later in life than Fomen; second, because the duration of inale life is shorter thin that of female life; and, third, became the proportion of widowa who remarry is much lower than the proportion of widowers who remarry.

The number of divorced persons who remarried in 1875-80 was equal to about 19 per cent. of the number divorced during that period, whereas in 1909 the proportion Ind risen to about 60 per cent.
