BIG FIRE IN HONGKONG.

$80,000 Damages. There was another big fire in the Colony last night, and one which at times looked like developing into one of the biggest outbreaks ever witnessed in Hongkong. It was shortly after saven o'clock that the alarm was raised, and the Fire Brigade were soon on their way to the scene of the conflagrationi at, Connaught Road West It appears that the, outbreak originated in a small general dealer's shop in Connaught; Read, and as there was plenty of inflam mable material lying about, including sexporni cases of snatches, the flames quickly spread until within a surprisingly short space of time two adjoining buildings in the same thoroughfare were also in the grip of the firo. But matters did not end hore, for aided by a strong wind which was blowing the flames crept along to two similar build- ings in Eastern Street.
