Captain C. M. De Bartolene las formally ommissioned the new battleship Neptune at Portsmouth for special service, She will relieve tho Dreadnought as flagship of the Home Fleet at the soil of Marchi, when Admiral Sir William May, the present Commander-in-Chief, hauls down his dag. At present the Neptuno is in dry dock at Portsmouth receiving her finishing touches, The nucleus crew of tho battleship Illustrious was turned over to the Neptuno, the remainder of the ratings being made up from the Royal Naval Barracks and the Gunnery School.

The Neptune is to leave on her experi mental cruise shortly, and it is understand that she will procced to the Mediterraumo, afterwards returning to Portsmouth for the chings of admimla. The huge reel, which is the largest and most powerful battleship in the world yet completed for ses, was ready in every respect, and most of her stores were no board when hor maiden commissioning pezzant was hoisted. The Neptons is the eleventh Dreadnought to hoist the pennant for service in the British Fleet, and she will bo joined shortly by the battleship cruiser Indefatigable.
