(From Our Owa Correspondent.) BRITISH BACHELORD. BALL”
CANTON, January 4. On the last day of the old year, ‘'na ia usual at Canton, the British Bachelors were "At Home" to their friends at the Club Theatre. Dancing was indulged in until the osma hours with uofigging energy. The invitations stated that Fancy Dress was optional; but many and varied fancy costumar wefa in evidence. For originality the Diver's dress as
word by one of the male guests was distinctly good. The parody of a Highland costume would certainly have bees awarded a prizo prizes bad been given. The usual Pierrote, Cow Boys, Sailors, pseudo "Gallants, &c., were in evidence. Needless to say the ladies all looked charming, but especial mention must be made of the ladies who samo respectively as a “Spanish Lady!! and a Western Cow Girl" Th's Ball wan zoet artistically decorated and one dia tinctive feature was the electric sign, Vale 1910. On the stroke of midnight all the sembled company joined hands and sang **Auld lang syne." and at the birth of the new year the electric sign fashed out *Aro 1911.":
