A BOGUS DOCTOR.

A Chinese ward boy, formerly of thả | Government Evil Hospital, was charged with obtaining money by means of falso pretences at the Magistracy to-day. It appeared that he got into conversation with another native while on a Chinese "passenger boat in Canton and as result of! defendant's informing him that he was s doctor in Hongkong defendant told his fallow passenger that his younger brother, who wished to becoûté a doctor, would have to go for three year's training at 818 a month and farther deposit 850 is security. Nothing, however, was done on this occasion but some time after defendant again inst the man when the subject of his younger brother becoming a doctor was continued. Then he became acquainted with another Chinese who wanted his son to become a doctor and both of them handed over 250 ench.
Together with the would-be doctors and their elder defendant came to Hongkong and took the youths into the waiting room of the Government Civil Hospital leaving. the father and brother outside the main gates. After walking about anoking for
some time defendant disappeared and the youths told the story to the ward boy when
Hongkong, August 19, 1910.
