A strong protest was made at the privato. manner in which the Black Watch Memo rial on the Mohd of Edinburgh was unveiled, but the antission has now been worthily amended. On Monday the statio and bronze tablets were handed over to the custody of the Lord Provost and Town Council with fitting military and civic ceremonial. A guard of honour was present from the regiment, there was a parade.of. veterans, and a large gathering of represen tative citizens.

In the Cathedral Church of St. Mary, the Rev. George Henry Somerest Walpole, D.D., the new Episcopal Bishop of Edis burgh, was consecrates and enthroned. Among those who took part in the cere
