On Wednesday afternoon he whe unconscious, but be recovered towards the evening and spent a comfortable night, being much better in f the morning, The rally was hut a tem- porary one, however, and the end came early in the evening. Shortly before hip, death he asked for a writing pid, and despite his great weakness, he wrote a cheque for 6,000 dollars in favour of the Mark Twain Library at Redding.
