I had been photographed and seen in telescopes of moderate power. In May it was hoped it will be easily seen. with the esked eye. Until recently the calculations of the circumstances of return had been chiefly made by feroigo astronomers, but: for the present return, Mesars Cowell and Trommelin, of the Royal Observatory at Greenwich, had outdistanced all com petitors and been awarded the prize of Astronomische Gesellschaft for their most the successful prediction, The problem of discovering the comet involved herculean computation, but 31ess Cowell and Crommelin obtained each accurate results that Dr Max Wolf, of Heibelberg, was enabled to pick up the tiny comet on one of his photographs on September 13, 1900 close to the place predicted.
