has been established as a most succesful industry in the Middle Exat, and it is in zomo mensure due to their efforts also that the price of the product has not become. to prohibitive. Now, with regard to the present price of rubber, opinions prevail in some quarters that it is infated. These opinions are wrong. On the contrary, there is overy likelihood that the price will be further raised owing to the continuously increasing demand for the product, and this conteation is borno,, out by the fact that many prominent manu. facturer have contracted for.supplies-in sonie eases to the end of 1918-at pricen anging from 6s, to 3, par pound. That their shrewdnosa is based upon actan knowledge is hardly a matter for doubt, as
the consumption of rubber at the present time is, perhaps, greater than the cutput: Towards the end of, 1907, the prics of rubber fall rather low, but that we owing to the American financial panic, compelling holders to sell their reserve
stocks at wrecked prices, which, it may be added, ruled for but a very brief period. With the passing of the crisis, the market
gradually became normal, and not inflated as has been asserted.
