MALARIA AT SHAUKIWAN.. Will reference to the report of the Com- mittcs dealing with malaria at Shaukiwan the Hon. Mr A. W. Brewin said:-I should like, before agrooing with the motion, to hear a little more about fore- shore and malaria.. I did not know before that foreshore covered' with salt water could be a breeding ground for mosquitoes. The people who live there the boat. people, are a very useful section of the community, and a people we cannot very

well do without. If it is naensents to remove them I hope the Government will find some other place where they can pat their boate shore under proper police protection.

Colonel Bedford said that one of the grest objections to the present foreshore were the nullahs which made waterholes in their course, and which waterholes except at very high tide ware not washed, but.
