THE INSTITUTION OF E±NCING FERS AND AHIFBUILDERS.

་་

Notwithstanding the lay, trying. wather, the debate at the Institution of Engihoore and Shipbuilders on Saturday night proved decidedly interesting. Mr H. T Richardson prosided and called upon Mr Nelson, whose paper on the cause of deterioration in maring boilers was the raison dira of the discussion, to open the;) debate. Ho did so in a happy speech full of practical suggestions, and was followed by Mosers Richardson, Russell, Elliott Glover,. Cobb and others, a few more debates on such subjects will soon raise the Institution to a place of high esteem antonig local engineers and shipbuilders and wa hope the energetic Secretary will be able, -to arrange for another paper, and its sub- sequent debate, oren though we have #truck the "dog days." ..
