Lomor, April 9. A Washington message says that the House of Representatives has adopted sendments to the Tarif Bill providing that tea shall be free from duty and removing the countervailing duty on coffee.

LONDON, April 10. The excavation of the Panama Canal during March has amounted to four million cubic yards, which is a record.

There remains to be excavated 104 `million cubic yards, and the Chief Commissioner now estimates that the actual excavation will be completed within three years.
