Chinese Presentation to Former Missionary.

A large gathering of Chinese, as well no a considerable number of European ladies and gentlemen, assembled in the To Tsai Church, Holywood Road, this morning, for the purpose of witnessing a presenta- tion made on behalf of the combined Chi- nose churches and Missions in the Colony -nine in number-to the Rev. F. S. Tar- nor, who was for 13 years a missionary in! Hongkong and Canton in connection with the London Mission, but was invalided home 38 years ago. His interest in the Chinese, however, still continued, and be took a leading part in forming the Anti- Opium Society. It was to recognise his work in this comection that the prosenta tion was made. opportunity being taken of Mr.Turner's visit to the Colony at this time.

The chair was vocupied by Mr Au Fong Chi, who gave a short resume of the work of the Anti-Opium Society, making special reference to the labours of Mr Turner.

Mr Fox Taing Chau, the C.M.S. minis- ter at St. Stephen's Church, also gave a brief address, thanking Mr Turner for his efforts, and asking him if he bad any message to deliver.

Mr Turner had said respecting the Anti- Opium Society was true, yet they must reckon that he was the man who started the Society. (Applause). They must stick that on to him. (Applause).

The presentation was thou made. It consisted of a most elaborata satin scroll adorned in gold and coloure. In the montre was a golden cross, on either aide of which were flags worked in silk- one a Union Jack, and the other the Chinese Bag. The scroll also bore the names of the nine Churchos from which it cane, and large Chinese characters in gold declared that Mr Turner's hand had
