On Monday evening Hartasiou's grand eircas gave their first performance in ̈aj spacious tent at Causeway Bay, before a crowded attendance.
All the items on the lengthy proTAIMS were watched with the groutest interest and the audience was not slow in marking? thoir appreciation of the cloverly por formed feats. Miss Nellic Harmiston Lore opened the programme by displaying her equestrienne abilities and was followed by Miss Jennio Harmston Love in a very
Then cam pretty tambourine dance. some daring and graceful feats on borss back by Miss Marie which were deservedly applauded. Almero, the midshipman afloat, performed many thrilling acta in mid-air from a pole and he was warmly greoted on desconding. The jumping barrel act by Harry and Edith Frantz and Dunny was truly marvellous and really well worth seeing. The manoeuvres by the Shetland ponios, introduced by Mr A. Ryan were particularly good while the graceful contortion act by Miss Floriz- ell, was one of the successes of the crening. Madle. Abs introduced a heavy weight lifting net and justly merited the spenta- noous applause accorded to her. Medle Abe lifted a weight of 150 lbs. with com- parative ease and this was eclipsed by hor tearing a pack of cards in twain and carry- ing man on either, arm, to be again out- dono in lifting a borse, of an estimated weight of 11owl. The perforting tigerswcro Introduced by Mr John and Paul Ragoul and their feats materially added to the saccess of the evening, The Franz Troupe VE very refined drawing-room en- tertainment and their exhibition left noth- ing to be desired. The applauss which greated their final fent was tremendous. Miss Jennie Harmston next introduced an excedingly profty act and came in for a due share of approbation. So splendidly performed was the musical act by the E- anuels that an encore was demanded. Their entertainment was certainly excellent in every way. The clowns, Pimple and Roberts, were responsible for a good deal of merriment throughout the evening. The concluding and most acnsational item was that of Looping the Loop, by Mr William Schultz, whose performance gained for him unstinted appinuse. Afternosan per- formances are to be given on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
A special service of ease run to and from the circus at short intervals.
